Winning in July

Good morning and Happy Monday. Brand new month. Brand new attitude. The past is the past. The future is unlimited. I am so excited about the month of July. In America we celebrate our indepedence this month. In Illinois there are a lot of state fairs going on in the smaller more rural towns. In Chicago it is the first full month of summer for the youth to be out of school. This is actually the first full month of summer as well and the days get hotter and the activities are more focused on outdoor things like softball, running, biking and even sailing. For most of us this is the time that we show off our body to others to see how we kept in shape or how we got into shape. This is aslo the beginning of the second half of the year. The first 6 months have probably been trying for some as death, layoffs, health issuse and other setbacks may have arose. For others it may have been just a great 6 months as marriages, births and graduations may have happened. But no matter what may have happned the first six months I have a theme for July. My theme is Winning In July.

 This month I have to be part of a challenge along with other members of  Teachers Training Class that graduated. We each have a group of young people from ages ( 19-10 ) and we have to train them on how to memorize 9 quotes or scriptures from the first 3 chapters of the Book of Ephesians. The team I am affliated with we are called Team Holy Warriors. Now the competition between all of us begins in August. But in order for Team Holy Warriors to have a chance in August we first must have to be Winning in July. In the book of Joel they were beseiged with plague of  locust and a drought at the same time ( Joel 2:1-11 ). This may have been part of your life this first six months. A drought in your area of finances. A plague dealing in your health. A drought of relationship/marriage happiness. A plague of doubt about your self worth and self esteem. A drought of having business ideas or helping with the youth and/or seniors. A plague of government programs ( local, state and federal ) designed to help the poor being cut or completely dismantled. The locust have been in your life and the plagues have come also but you still stand. That is because God has a plan for you. He wants to be Winning in July.

In order to be Winning in July we have to still hold onto the Word of God. In Joel 2:12-17 God give us a chance to change our lives. Things may not have gone well but you have a can make it better. Things may have gone exceptionally well but you can build on that to make it better. You may have had let some things, issues or people out of your life but that is part of change. In order to win you have to strengthen yourself daily. Just because you are a Champion does not mean there is not some one who wants to take you out and you belt. Just because you have lost a few rounds or maybe even lost your championship does not mean that you cannot get it back. In the book of Judges alone there are countless accounts of the people losing their championships. In the 4th chapter Deborah chosen by God won their freedom/championship back. In Judges 6 the people lost it their freedom/championship again. In Judges 8 Gideon chosen by God got their freedom/championship back. In Judges 8 they also lost their freedom/championship that quick. So it is possible to lose your championship but you can change the direction and still be Winning in July.


Once again as in almost every post I go to Dictionary.com to get the meaning of the word winning; the act of a person or thing that wins;  successful or victorious; charming, engaging and pleasing. So as believers we have to change some strategies in order to compete in this day and age. Prayer and fasting does work but we need to be active and seen in order to start winning the battles we have here on earth. We have be the people that puts things in place so we are winning in the areas of business, education and the arts ( 1st Samuel 16:11-13 ). We have to be successful in winning over the youth and seniors as we move forward in the different ways approach soltuions to become victorious in the areas of family, religion and entertainment ( Jeremiah 32:13-15 ). We have to be charming in the areas of government and media in order to become engaging in the Gospel of Christ which would pleasing to God ( John 14:1-7 ).  This is how we keep Winning in July.

When I have a theme for the month I have a base scripture for the month. So the base scriputre for Winning in July will also come from Joel the 2nd chapter. They are verses 21-32. I tells of how the plague of locust are now gone. How the land is now cured. It tells of how the drought has been replaced with plenty. It tells of how that Holy Spirit will descend on the lives of the believers and they will prophesize over others ( reference Acts 2:14-36 ). So we are Already Winning in July. Have a great month all.
