Good morning and Marvelous Monday. Brand new week. Brand new attitude. The past is the past. The future is unlimited. As we continue this last teaching in the month of Character in January based on Ruth 1:15-17 and John 6:64-66 I happen to run into one of my coworkers as I was walking home. This coworker was the one who put the plan in motion to get me removed from the site I was at. I was told that I did something when I really was set up by not only him but the others who worked there. The crime that I did to them was be too popular to the other residents and they hated that. So instead of them getting me to not be myself, they set into motion ways to get me removed. Glen, the person who I saw walking down the street, was the person who did the deed that got me out of there and when I saw him I thought to myself, I get to finally confront him. As a person who believes in God and that Jesus is the only way for one to come into the presence of God, I at times get looks like I am crazy. My beliefs in this comes with dismay and often times stern words. I am asked how can I believe in a man who I have never seen. How can I believe in someone who was rejected by his own people and who sentenced him to death. How come is Jesus never portrayed as being Black. I hear these things often and I at times want to stay silent because I am not one who likes to argue or debate, at least not at this stage of my life. But what I tell them I have spoken to Jesus and he has done the things I have asked of him, there is a look that I get and then people tend to not only walk away but want nothing else to do with me. My beliefs have cost me a lot of  friendships. But I know that Jesus lives within me and in saying this It Comes With A Price (Staying In Character). See thos

Good morning and Happy Saturday.  As we continue in the month of Character in January based on Ruth 1:15-17 and John 6:64-66, one of the things that happens here in America is a court system that gives people accused of crimes to defend themselves against the charges against them. The courtroom is filled with many different play a part. There is the judge who either has the final say and directs all the action in the courtroom. There is the jury who may be judging the case and who follows the instructions of the judge. There are the lawyers who represent either the city, county, state or federal jurisdictions or the lawyer who is representing the accused. There are law enforcement personnel to make sure things get of hand. Finally there is the person(s) that are accused of the crime. The accused are the ones who need to convince the judge or jury of their innocence and at times they need people to vouch for their conduct. These people are known as Character Witnesses. As we continue in the month of Character in January there are those who are always going to have a negative perception of you no matter what you do. You can be doing great work like try to encourage people everyday and have those who wonder what is his/her underlying motivation. Or you can be doing things like providing ministry to the less fortunate or those in prison and have those say why are they doing that when it does no good. From the clothes that you wear to the shoes on your feet to the way that you walk or talk, there will be someone who will not like. And if they do not like and do not act on it, that would be okay. But for these type of people they have only one agenda and that is to have others think the worst of you as well. These people are ones who will provoke Attacks On Your Attack. As we continue with these teachings in the month of Character in January based on Ruth 1:15-17 and John 6:64-66 when I used to go to school in Piney Woods I began a business of selling cigarettes to the people that stayed on campus. Contraband of this kind was forbidden in the school but there was a need for them and I wanted to supply those who did smoke these products. Now to get to the place to get the cigarettes and other things such as candy and peanut butter and jelly I had my friend and roommate, Jerome H., walk with me. Now this was at least a 3 hour walk just to get there and another 3 hour walk to get back to the school and we had to get there and back before meal time and it got dark. It was dangerous especially in the south going through the woods but we made it there and back each time. I asked Jerome who I did share the profits with and gave little to any of the food I bought why he went with me and he had one simply phrase. He said, &qu

As we continue in this month of Character in January based on Ruth 1:15-17 and John 6:64-66 one of the things that I still do is work as a doorman at night. One of them is in a exclusive neighborhood in Chicago where the people with the big money stay. And another is in a up and coming part of town for the younger crowd, which is River North. These places are a far cry from the street where I live on and the areas that I have to pass through to get to work. In my hood there is an abundance of things such as rundown or vacant homes, a bunch of families who are trying to just make ends meet, and a million and one unrealized dreams or goals. Although we as a people of God could not maybe affect these areas to make dreams reality, we have let things such as killings, the glorification of sex and the constant disrespect that youth give to adults become norm rather than doing a

Good morning and Thankful Thursday. As we continue with these teachings in the month of Character in January, on yesterday after a hard day at work where I only made two sales and saw my ranking go down a notch so  I wanted to do something different. I wanted to go a restaurant that was in a exclusive area of Chicago, the Gold Coast, and have a meal. I pass this place on my way to work many times and always wanted to go. I invited one of my coworkers to go, Ms Toya P. and she accepted and we went to were I wanted to go which is a place called the Devon House. Once we got there we had a nice meal that consisted on an appetizer and an entree. Both were great but in places like this the servings were real small and the prices are really high. So when the check came I was not shocked by the price but wondered why it was so much for so little. I could see where Ms. P wanted to maybe offer to help me pay for the bill but I would not have none of that. I invited her to come with me so it is

As I rejoin you all I took off the whole year of social media to concentrate on some work I had to do. I wanted to finish school and begin to start my Masters studies this month. That aint gonna happen. I wanted to build on the 10 chapters that I have written on my sequel to my book to self publish later this year. I know that is not going to be possible. I wanted to lose more weight and I gained more, wanted to be driving by now but I am still on the big green machine called public transportation here in Chicago and as much as much as I try I still have trouble with filtering what I say. So while these things are still not accomplished there is something I must realize. I Have Got Work To Do.
