English Lesson ( Homophones )

Image
Good morning and Happy Friday. As we end the month themed I love you in August based on John 13:34-35 I want to end it how I began by teaching about a subject I know a lot about. I am so sure on this subject that I moved my picture to the right side because this is one subject I know I am right about. In grammar school the man pictured was one of the best students when it came to two subjects. I did not get the subjects of math and science ( Looking back I did not give it my full effort so I got what I put in ). I really shined in history ( which is why writing this blog is my calling from God ). But the one subject I shined and excelled at was English. I could identify the noun, pronoun, verb adverb, conjunction, participles, prepositions, interjection and any other thing that dealt with English. It came naturally to me as to a person breathing air. I wrote poetry and won awards in 4th grade in the class of Ms. Collins at Bennett Elementary on 101st and Forest. I loved the subject so

The Love of a Father

Good morning and Happy Monday. Brand new week. Brand new attitude. The past is the past. The future is unlimited. As this month draws to and end I decided after much thought to end it how I started it with the theme of I love you in August and based on John 13:34-35. Those of you who are my Facebook friends get a daily dose of scriptures that deal with love. I have stepped out of my comfort zone by even telling men and woman who may be friends that I love them with the love of Christ. It is not hard for me to do this because in my last blog I spoke of the love of a Mother and scratched the surface about my Mothers love for me. I would be remiss to not mention the love that this man, James A. Wesley had for me. Yes I know he has helped countless folks but I love that he is my Father because he not only has helped many times over but also trained me how to become a man. Now did I listen. Nooo. But what he instilled in me has never gone away to the point I have the blueprint etched in m

The Love of a Mother

Good morning and Happy Friday. As my theme for the month is I love you in August based on John13:34-35 I have found that love is a something we all can relate to. Now the beautiful woman who I am kissing is my Mother. When I was a child this woman sewed my clothes, combed my hair, cooked my food, and taught me things. As I got into my teen years and rebelled by using drugs, drinking and smoking squares ( squares are actually cigarettes ) we did not have the best relationship but she hung in there with me. Many different issues happened to her, my Dad, my sister Angela and myself but one thing we always got from JoAnn Wesley is that she showed the Love of a Mother. Even to this day. Even though I was blessed to have my Father in my life I really am thankful for my Mother. She birthed me into this world and did so many other things for me. She learned from her Mother, Mrs. Lilla Mae Birdsong who taught her well. When I go to Dictionary.com and look up the world Mother I see the meanin

The Love Of A Champion

Good morning and Happy Friday everyone. As I continue this month of I love you in August ( based on John 13:34-35 ) I wanted to share a little of my life as of now. In the picture that I am using for this blog I have my friend Ms. Angela Francis sitting next to me. In the years that we have been friends I have grown mentally and spiritually. I have grown to love Angela for being who see is and would do anything for her and she has proven time and again she would do it for me. That being said there is a special love that God has shown to us when you turn your life over to him and profess that Jesus is your savior. For all that I have gone thru in my life I want to return the love that God has shown me in a fashion that represent him. I want God to know I intend to show him the Love of a Champion each day that I arise. In these times we have love for almost everything. Some of us loved watching the Olympics. Most of us loved being out of school this summer. Even more of us loves

Good morning and Happy Monday. Brand new week. Brand new attitude. The past is the past. The future is unlimited. This past month I was riding with my friend Angela Francis. On this particular day she had to go get her hair done and her friend Roxanne' shop. I had done this numerous times in the past so when I was getting ready to leave I told Angela I was going to the forest preserve to sit and wait as she got her hair done. At the forest preserve I would be able to do two things while I was there. I would be able to think of ideas for my blog, my radio show and my daily postings on Facebook. When you attempt to write you sometimes get writer's block and need to get to a different atmosphere ( Hmmm Writer's Block may be a blog soon LOL ). The other reason I wanted to go to the forest preserve is because it was hot that day and I needed some shade. So as I approached the forest preserve I put on my left turn signal and waited for traffic coming southbound to clear. After

Good morning and Happy Monday. Brand new week. Brand new attititude. The past is the past. The future is unlimited. As I was taking my computer courses my instructor, Mrs. Robin Watson ( also an accomplished jazz singer of the Robin Watson Trio ) would want to send me things via email so I would get used to using the computers. At times she would send me emails that were very short and to the point. But when it came time for me to take my certification for Retail Management she had to send me a special email that contained a lot of information. When she sent it I was unable to open it because I did not fully understand the operations of using the computer properly to open the email. I grew frustrated and those around me felt my anger as I lashed out at them. The testing was coming up shortly and this practice test would be of great help if I could only get it open. I kept trying to open the email but it would never open. Mrs. Watson finally asked me if I knew if it was a portable doc

Extreme Makeover ( Religion Edition )

Good morning and Happy Friday. As I was taking classes to become a teacher of the Word of God the last module or segment of classes we took was taught by Ms. Roberta Coleman. The classes dealt with spreading the word thru technology. Ms. Coleman also told the class told a remarkable story about how people in non profit organizations need faith based organizations help on how to implement programs in the hood but also that might help the church. The non profit organizations would try to contact the churches but most of the times they tried no one was at the church to even hear about the programs they were offering. I have moved to the city and spoken to Ms. Coleman about how I wanted to start a non profit organization called the Repair Shop that would bring Father's estranged from their children into communication with each other. I found the same problems when I went to the churches to see if they would be of interest in my organization. The doors of the church were closed. At 9a

Good morning and Happy Monday. Brand new week. Brand new attitude. The past is the past. The future is unlimited. Today I once again look back over some things in my life. As I grew up I had 3 places that I had to focus my life around just like many youth today. I had to focus on my church life, my school life and my neighborhood life. In each of these areas I had different people I dealt with. In church I had friends but mostly my familiy as my cousins and I were raised almost as we were siblings. My school life I had different friends like John Ellerbe and the now syndicated radio host Michael Baisden. When I got around my hood I had Michael Jones and Darrell Chaney ( RIP fellas ). But in all 3 places I knew of people who were considered whores. At Second Mt. Vernon there was a member who stripped. At my  school there was a peron who slept with any one. And in my neighborhood on 103rd and 109th and Michigan there were whores who walked the street. In all places we looked down on th

Good morning and Happy Wednesday. Brand new month. Brand new attitude. The past is the past. The future is unlimited. I want to thank God once again for allowing me to awake to see another day. As I got into my 30's I started seeing life differently. Not to say I was a negative person before that age but I started to see things in a more than expected frame of mind. There was a saying that about a person seeing a glass half full or half empty. If they asked me I would say that is going to be overflowing where you will have a abundance of full glasses. In sports sometimes my teams are down to the last out, down by 9 points with little time to play or down to match point but when they come back to win it is not an upset to me because I expected it. When my Mother and Uncle Lee beat the odds and defeated cancer I already knew it would happen. See when you are covered by the blood and the love of Jesus you expect things. So my theme for this month is something you can expect from me
