When Do I Grow Up.

Image
Good morning and Happy Sunday. Brand new week. Brand new attitude. The past is the past. The future is unlimited. As we continue in the month of When In June based on Psalms 73:3, Matthew 17:8 and 1st Corinthians 13:11 as I have my Mother pictured here on this blog I want share something with you all. In my 30's I was living with someone who could not drive and did not go no further than the South Side of Chicago. I drove and went all over Chicago but I worked in the downtown area of Chicago. At this time I worked the night shift at a job and had gotten involved with a married woman. Our jobs were our safe haven as her husband did not work downtown or even live in Illinois at all. But a funny thing happened while the married woman and I were hugged up downtown one day. The woman I was staying with named Tonia had a brother who saw me and the married woman and went and told his sister and from that point our relationship changed and we eventually broke up. Mind you I was in my 30&

When You Exhibit Faith

Good morning and Happy Friday every one As we finish up this week of When is June based on Psalms 73:3, 1st Corinthians 13:11 and Matthew 17:8 I posted a picture of my Dad not because Father's Day just passed but to show you a man who had to come from so odds that most of us would never have made it out of. But my Dad is just one of many who had to endure this type of hard labor when they where children. The only way that you could make a living in the Southern states of the United States would be to sharecrop off of the land of a land owner. Now please keep in mind that slavery had been abolished a long time ago so when my Dad was born in the 1940' he along with his brothers and sister and his parents had to do this to put food on the table and a roof over their head. They made the land owners lots of money by working their land for little wages but the rewards for them was not to come for them at that appointed time. They and others like them were working for their descenda

Good morning and Happy Monday. Brand new week. Brand new attitude. The past is the past. The future is unlimited. As we continue in the month of When In June based on Psalms 73:3, 1st Corinthians 13:11 and Matthew 17:8 I want to share a story that I was told to me by a long time friend Lisa Kerns. Ms. Kerns and I went to grammar school together. She was my sister Gloria close friend. I would often see Lisa not only in school but at my house as well when see came to visit my sister. Lisa as a teenager was very lovely and still to this day is lovely. Lisa has eyes that has her standing out from a crowd. My sister Gloria never went to her house though. I often thought that it was because Lisa stayed in a hood called Murda Love and we from the hood Over the Tracks did not venture over there. But Lisa had something going on in her house. She had a Mother suffering fro mental illness and that mother at times would jump on her. One day Lisa had enough and even though she regretted she fough

When Harry Met Sally ( Finding Your Calling )

Good morning and Happy Friday. As we continue in the month of When In June based on Psalms 73:3, 1st Corinthians 13:11 and Matthew 17:8 I want to talk about a movie that came out in 1989 called When Harry Met Sally. This movie cost $16 million to make and made over $92 million for the people involved. The plot of the movie deals with two friends, Harry and Sally, who struggle to find a common ground on the definition of friendship. Through a twelve year journey each person went through relationships, heartaches, and confusion that made them at times question should they even be friends. After a long time they finally found themselves attracted to each other and eventually got together. God at times sends you through a journey that no one could imagine especially if you are a person who has given your life to God for many years. Each of us has an assignment that has to be fulfilled to advance the kingdom of God. When Harry Met Sally dealt with a journey about finding themselves. As

Good morning and Happy Monday. Brand new week. Brand new attitude. The past is the past. The future is unlimited. As We begin another week of When In June based on Psalms 73:3. 1st Corinthians 13:11 and Matthew 17:8 no matter how much I try not to I love to eat fried food. Along with the fried food I like buttered bread and also fatty desserts. These things taste so good to me and there is nothing to stop me from eating these things in abundance. I eat McDonalds, Popeyes and even fried catfish from some of the places that sells this in Chicago. By eating all these foods I at one time topped the scales at 250 lbs. I drove all the time and never got any exercise. I would not even walk one block to the store to get food. Then one day I saw a doctor who told me that eating the way I was would be a sure way for me to not be on this earth very long. I had a choice to make. Follow the advice of my doctor or continue to do what I was doing. Enough was enough. It would not be easy but I chose

When in the Wind

Image
Good morning and Happy Thursday. As  most of you know this is the Year of the Wind based in Exodus 14:21 and Acts 2:2-4. This month is also themed When In June Based on Psalms 73;3, 1st Corinthians 13:11 and Matthew 17:8. I stay in Chicago which is nicknamed the Windy City. In the building that I work at as a doorman this building is located right by the Chicago River. The street the building is located on is a street that curves about a few yards before it gets to my building. This curve causes massive winds when you are walking towards the building from the south because in Chicago most times the wind comes from the north. When the temperatures are below zero and I will not have a car until December I have to prepare myself and dress a little warmer to combat the wind conditions. Now no matter how much I try or the residents of the building tries we all have to feel that wind as we approach the building. We as a people of faith have prepare ourselves for When in the Wind. In our

When In June

Good morning and Happy Monday. Brand new month. Brand new attitude. The past is the past. The future is unlimited. As we move into the month of June we are getting ready to end the first half of the year. As  I write this it is the 146th day of the year. So we are fortunate that we have made it thus far. Way back in January we published about the great things that God has done and our love for God. In February we loosed some things from our lives. In March we gave and received more from God and gave even more of ourselves. In April all things were made possible. And finally in May we gave and received the now in our dreams our talk and our promises. So up until last Thursday I had not received what God had wanted to write about this month. I was getting a little worried because I did not want to lean to my own understanding and words. Then he finally gave me the word I was looking for and I was able to search for scriptures to bring our theme to life. In  this month God is asking us
