I'm Down For You

Good morning and Happy Saturday. As we continue with these teachings in the month of Character in January based on Ruth 1:15-17 and John 6:64-66 when I used to go to school in Piney Woods I began a business of selling cigarettes to the people that stayed on campus. Contraband of this kind was forbidden in the school but there was a need for them and I wanted to supply those who did smoke these products. Now to get to the place to get the cigarettes and other things such as candy and peanut butter and jelly I had my friend and roommate, Jerome H., walk with me. Now this was at least a 3 hour walk just to get there and another 3 hour walk to get back to the school and we had to get there and back before meal time and it got dark. It was dangerous especially in the south going through the woods but we made it there and back each time. I asked Jerome who I did share the profits with and gave little to any of the food I bought why he went with me and he had one simply phrase. He said, "Fred, I Am Down For You.
We as believers of God must get into the mode of being down not only for God but for those who believe the same things we believe. There seems to be so many of us who do not share things such as
ideas to advance the kingdom of God, intellectual property and finances that we can fall behind. If I not helping my faith based brother how does it look to the world who really needs our help but we look down on them. There is always someone looking for someone who will tell them, I Am Down For You. This teaching will be coming from the 1st base scripture, Ruth 1:15-17.

As we begin this teaching of I'm Down For You I begin in Ruth 1:15. In this verse Naomi has bid farewell to one of her daughter-in-laws and attempts to do the same with Ruth. See people can see
that a situation such as be dire and would rather go through it alone rather than involve you. But we as a people of faith how to have look at things honestly and see what we can do. I'm Down For You.
As we continue in Ruth 1:16 for this teaching of I'm Down For You we see where Ruth is to the point where she does not want to leave Naomi for anything and is willing to serve God, who she does not
have a relationship with. We as the people of God have to begin to have the courage to show others in actions that no matter where they are in life we will be there for them as well. I'm Down For You.
In coming to the end of the Biblical portion of this teaching of I'm Down For You I go to Ruth 1:17. In this verse we see where Ruth continues to tell Naomi that she is going to weather the storm with
Naomi and be there with her until death. When times get tough for the people of God we need to continue to have integrity to be there with other believers and those who do not believe. I'm Down For You.
In conclusion Naomi had to go back home because her sons had died and there was no one to take care of her family. Ruth could have had went anywhere like Orpah did but she showed character by Being Down For Naomi and trusting that the God we serve will make things so much better. Honesty is going to have be one of the ways we have to look at how we treat others and make corrections. Again we have to have the courage to put aside theological differences and come into what God really wants us to do. But it has to be done with integrity so that believers and non-believers are going to want to know about our God. Character is saying to others and mean it, I am down for you. I give God all the glory and honor for this teaching. Please join me Monday for a yet untitled teaching. Have a fantastic weekend.
