While You Were Sleeping (Character Lacking)

Good morning and Happy Sunday. Brand new week. Brand new attitude. The past is the past. The future is unlimited. As we continue in this month of Character in January based on Ruth 1:15-17 and John 6:64-66 one of the things that I still do is work as a doorman at night. One of them is in a exclusive neighborhood in Chicago where the people with the big money stay. And another is in a up and coming part of town for the younger crowd, which is River North. These places are a far cry from the street where I live on and the areas that I have to pass through to get to work. In my hood there is an abundance of things such as rundown or vacant homes, a bunch of families who are trying to just make ends meet, and a million and one unrealized dreams or goals. Although we as a people of God could not maybe affect these areas to make dreams reality, we have let things such as killings, the glorification of sex and the constant disrespect that youth give to adults become norm rather than doing anything. Is is as if we were not awake and happened While You Were Sleeping (Character Lacking).
One of the things we as people of God have done is fall asleep or act like we are sleep when it comes to the violent acts we witness everyday. In Chicago alone there were over 750 murders with 4331
shooting victims. The use of sex in ads and on the internet has teens having babies before they are ready. And children say or do most anything to adults without any fear of anyone saying or doing anything to them. It is as if there is no one one awake. While You Were Sleeping (Character Lacking).
As we go into the Word of God for this teaching of While You Were Sleeping (Character Lacking) I go to Ezra 4:6-8. In these verses the enemies of the people of God are plotting to stop the building of
the city of Jerusalem so that they can stop them from becoming a force. The advent of violence is another ploy of those who seek to discredit God and keep the people of God from uniting. We have to be aware and do something. While You Were Sleeping (Character Lacking).
In continuing this teaching of While You Were Sleeping (Character Lacking) I continue in Ezra 4:9-16. This passage shows how the enemies of the people of God drafted a letter to take the authority of
the time, King Artaxerxes, in an attempt to halt the building of the city. Today the enemy is concentrating on using the glorification of sex to keep our minds of what God wants and needs us to be doing. While You Were Sleeping (Character Lacking).
As we come to the end of the Biblical portion of this teaching of While You Were Sleeping I finish in Ezra 4:17-24. The King has given the order to stop the building of the city and has those who opposed
the building enforce his order and stops the people of God from becoming a force. The youth of today looks upon their elders with disdain and as a lack of authority and do just about anything without any fear of anything happening to them. While You Were Sleeping (Character Lacking).
In conclusion in we as the people of God need to begin to do some Character Building. There should never be a a Lack of Character. As many different churches that are in the city of Chicago there is not one that is open at night to counsel those who may want to resolve a dispute in another way other than violence. As many different denominations of churches that are out there in America there is not a consensus on teaching that the glorification of sex on social media and television is wrong and something should be done about it. And worldwide there is a lack of respect for the authority of older people and we as a people of God are not affecting a change in this area. These are just three areas that have been forgotten by and just ignored by the people of God but not by the enemy. He has prospered While We Were Sleeping. We have to wake up and begin to build character to become the force that God wants us to be. Let us not talk about it. Let us be about the business of our Father. No More Sleeping. Have the best week possible. Please join me for my teaching coming from the 1st base scripture of the month of Character in January, Ruth 1:15-17, called Loyalty Program. See you then.
