Portrait of A Hero

Good morning and Marvelous Monday. Brand new week. Brand new attitude. The past is the past. The future is unlimited. As we continue in the month of Drama Free in January based on 1st Kings 3:23-28 and Mark 12:13-17 I want to take the time to recognize that one this day that we celebrate the holiday of a remarkable man, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. In spite of all the things that were happening to him and around him he stood in the face of adversity and helped change the way this nation treated those of color. Sometimes you have to do things a bit differently if you really want change. This is a Portrait of a Hero.
In defining the word hero I go my source of definitions and that is dictionary.com. Hero means as follows; a man of distinguished courage or ability; admired for his brave deeds; and noble
qualities. You see some most of the things that Dr. King did was courageous and there are many that admire the outcome of what his brave deeds accomplished that made his noble qualities stand out. Portrait of a Hero.
In looking at the Word of God for this teaching of Portrait of a Hero I go to Isaiah 6:8-10. In this passage Isaiah has taken on the task to go into a the land and speak what God has him to do. Dr. King
as a man distinguished by his actions, listened to the voice of what God told him and in effect went into places that the people in charge did not want him to go. We admire him for these brave deeds. Portrait of a Hero.
In looking in the Word of God again of a Portrait of a Hero I go to Amos 7:10-17. In this passage Amos is told by priest of the king to go away and so that his message will not be heard. Dr. King was
not welcomed into any of the segregated cities that he brought the message of non-violence to and often times, beaten and/or arrested but he still carried on. Portrait of a Hero.
In looking at the last Biblical example I go Matthew 11:25-30. In this passage Jesus offers those who are tired and weary a place to find rest. Dr. King being the person who stood on the forefront of this
non-violent movement wanted to see that the oppressed and disadvantaged people of color would be lifted of some of the burdens of being of color and could rest knowing they were truly equal. This was his noble qualities. Portrait of a Hero,
In closing being a Hero is not easy. You have to do things against the norm. You have to love those who are doing you wrong. You have to be the forefront of change. You have to say that I am going to make it no matter the cost. Being a hero you have to have that distinguished ability to not let your enemies have control over you in any situation. Being a Hero is showing brave deeds by going back to the places you grew up in or heard about and attempt to make changes. Being a Hero is having your noble qualities be so great that others want to be part of the change you are going to be about. I salute you Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Portrait of a Hero. I give God all the glory and honor for this teaching. Please join me later this week for my teaching coming for the first base scripture of the month, 1st Kings 3:23-28. called Competitive Intelligence.
