The Pinocchio Theory

Good afternoon and Happy Tuesday. As we continue in the month of Visually Impaired in August based on Job 29:11-16, Mark 8:22-25 and Revelation 3:14-19 each month I do a teaching that is not on the theme of the month. So in doing I go a children's story that is familiar to most. In 1883 a Italian writer named Carlo Collodi wrote a book called the Adventures of Pinocchio. Pinocchio was carved out of wood by Geppato and had a dream of one becoming a boy one day. There was one problem. Pinocchio had a tendency to stretch the truth. In doing so he had a trait that made his lies stand out and that more his nose grew. In our world today you have some people that have what I like to call the Pinocchio Theory. They will lie, connive and cheat their way to receive what they have been promised, seen as a reward or to try to get over. And if we as a people of God do not become active the Pinocchio Theory might take over the world.
If we look at the areas of education and business the way they are operating is not on the up and up at times. If we look at arts and entertainment, family and social media there are fabrications that seem to be truths.
And in government and religion at times there are people who promise things but do not deliver. It used to be called a little white lie but now bigger lies have become common and the the Pinocchio Theory is taking a hold on society. I will look in the Word of God to provide an example of lies, conniving and cheating as examples of the Pinocchio Theory.

In looking in the Word of God for examples of the Pinocchio Theory I go to Genesis 38:12-26. In this passage both Judah and Tamar both have not been honest about what they promised and whom they are.
We as people have a tendency to promise certain things or act a certain way if we receive a gift or a blessing when we have no inclination to fulfill the promise or act. We are practicing the Pinocchio Theory.
In the next example of the Pinocchio Theory in the Word of God I go to 2nd Kings 6:20-27. In this passage the servant of Elisha, Gehazi, runs after Naaman to receive a monetary gift that had been initially refused by
Elisha. Gehazi performs the act of the Pinocchio Theory by conniving Naaman. There are those want to profit or gain an advantage over those they know by being conniving and slick. This a part of the Pinocchio Theory.
In looking at the last example in the Word of God for the Pinocchio Theory I go to Matthew 26:3-5. In this passage to the people who are in charge of religion plot take to bring down the Son of God by trickery. This
was the only way they could have made the phony charges seem real. Even today there are those who continue to cheat others by trickery. This is actually how the Pinocchio Theory continues to be prevalent all over the world.
In closing we all know or should know who promotes what is called the Pinocchio Theory and that is Satan himself. He shows a portrait of if we lie, just a little or to gain an advantage it is alright. He whispers in our ear that to connive to get ahead or achieve a goal is what every one is doing. And he thinks that cheating on your spouse/significant other is what every body is doing so you should join the crowd. The Pinocchio Theory does work however. It keeps blessings from flowing, favor from being expected and the Kingdom of Heaven from being obtained. God seeks the truth because he is the truth. It is up to you. Are you with God or with the Pinocchio Theory. I give God all the glory for this teaching and ask him to bless all those who may read this. Please join me Friday for my teaching on the first base scripture of the month, Job 29:11-16, called Help Them See. Have the best week ever. My heart is heavy for one of the best Doorwoman I have ever known, Sabrina McCastor, who went to seek her heavenly reward last week after succumbing to cancer. May God provide her family peace in this time of grief. Gonna miss you because you taught me much.
