Good morning and Happy Friday. As we continue in the month of Trending Now in November based on Genesis 45:3-8 Isaiah 63:10-14 and 1st John 2:1-5 I see where my life has gone from good to bad to worse to much better just in this year alone. For the typical believer of God there is a lot of pain and struggles that you endure everyday. But as a teacher of the Word of God the attacks come often and more often. Each day I struggle with when do I stop the vignettes of teaching on Facebook because at times it is hard for me to have fresh ideas each day. And then I have school and my class now is more demanding as I am doing the same work I did when I made the dean's list but my grades in this class is not bad but not where I want them. I still miss my parents as they live far away in the southern parts of the United States. Then I realize that I am not only doing very well but looking at myself I think I am Trending Up In A World That Is Down.
Yes we have had a crisis all over America.Since last year violent has risen 15% and with lack of policing the numbers could be higher next year. The government still has put off the vote on the debt ceiling which should have us all
worried. And of course the economic shutdown has been put off for another day. But it is amazing how God moves in a direction that makes things that look actually become greater. In the next three paragraphs I will show in the Word of God how we as his people can be Trending Up In a World That's Down.
In the first example of Trending Up In A World that's Down I go to Deuteronomy 1:34-39. In this passage of scriptures the leaders had disobeyed God ( verses 32-33 ) and refused to enter the land that had been
promised them by God. Many of us as people of faith are the same way when God is in everything that we do. Only Caleb and Joshua were allowed to go in but the key scripture is verse 39 where the younger generation who has no knowledge of good or evil will come and do right by what God has given us. The technological advances did not come from man, they came from the creator, God. He is capable of having us Trending Up In a World That's Down.
In the next example of Trending Up In a World That's Down I go to Deuteronomy 3:23-28. In this passage Moses asks to be able to see the promised land. But after being disobedient and not listening to what God had told him to do
( Numbers 20:7-12 ) he was unable to actually enter. But God had enough mercy to still allow Moses to see the promise land by allowing him to go up to the top of the mountain and then telling him to encourage the younger Joshua who would be the person to allow the land to be taken over. Once again movement by the youth is encouraged by God to take over places where we seasoned saints will not dare go. We have to trust God and we all can be Trending Up In a World That's Down.
As we move into the last example of Trending Up in a World That's Down I go to Deuteronomy 8:1-11. In this passage even though the
children of Israel had been in the wilderness for over 40 years God still had them Trending Up as the land that they were promised has know been reached. A movement takes place even in the lean times because once we let God in there is nothing but Trending Up in A World That's Down.
In conclusion our God will have his people Trending Up In A World That's Down if we just have the desire to trust him and to hold on to his words. When the people came out of Israel there was a promise but no sign of hope. and most of the people that traveled out of Egypt did not make it. Our younger generation has some great ideas and are ready to show the world that God is real. Through blogging, spoken word, comedy or music they are looking to have the Word of God and all that our God does Trending Up In a World That's Down.
