Shut em Down

Good morning and Happy Monday. Brand new week. Brand new attitude. The past is the past. The future is unlimited. As we get ready to exit the month of All in October based on Isaiah 37:14-20 and 2nd Kings 19:14-19 I want to relate a blog of all in on a particular subject. A person who I know very well is works at a hotel in the downtown area. In this hotel there are lot of events happening that this person sees each weekend they work at this hotel. This person has had the opportunity to see bridal dresses being sold for small donations, a event for a local university and a costume party all being held at this hotel. This person this weekend was able to witness a small portion and hear a vast amount of something he had heard of all his life but never had been around or seen one. This person saw and heard what a bar miztpah is all about and it seemed to be a great party. The bar mitzpah was held in a restaurant in the hotel. As the previous events I mentioned as well as the bar mitzpah when these events are held the area of the hotel has access for those involved in the events. It essentially shuts down the floor, area or restaurant involved. In our lives as faith based people there are some areas in the world that we need to shut em down!!

In the world today we have so much going on outside the realm of the kingdom that sometimes it is hard to keep up. If we focused on the high rate of murders then we lose sight of the unemployment rate rising. If we
look at the problems with the schools we then lose sight of teenage pregnancies and how they affect all communities. If we look at the way we treat religion we the lose sight of failed businesses in our community. If we focus on the television programs that are sexual and violent we then lose sight that most governments are letting us down and leaving issues and problems to solve on our own. As a believer in Christ it is in the word of what we can do when we have Christ in our life ( Philippians 4:13 ). So I propose today we step out of faith that God is behind our efforts, Jesus is in the midst and the Holy Spirit is with us and we shut down some things in the world that affects our communities and our lives.

In the Book of Exodus we see where the people of Israel have to make a move to something better as their way of life as having their freedom has been taken away by those who did not know their history of being a
a vital part of Egyptian history was forgotten ( Exodus 1:8-14 ). In order to get out of the situation that resulted from this the people of Israel trusted in their God that he would bring them out of this captive state and shut down the opposition. In the world today we see where the educational programs are under funded and class sizes increase. In the media we see nothing but negative stories in the beginning of the newscast and the feel good stories relegated to the end of the newscast. We see where the government has no control on crime as it rises each and every day. We as Christians need to believe in our God and take actions to shut this negative mess down. In Exodus chapters 8-10 God has hardened the heart of Pharaoh that he will not release the people no matter how many signs he is shown. Finally in Chapter 11 he has shown Pharaoh that he is supreme in all things, a right now God, so the people are released. We can shut down the negative ways in education, the media and even in government. We just have to go all in and lean of God.

In the Book of 1st Kings we see a lot of examples of things that we kept going on that we not pleasing to God and instances where God allowed someone to step in and make the changes necessary to advance the
kingdom of God. I want to look at chapter 18 to look at Elijah. In the beginning of the chapter God tells Elijah to go meet King Ahab. In the area of business and religion we may have to not sit still and have a sign like the one on the left but go out in the streets and meet the opposition head on. The Holy Spirit lives among us so there is no way he is going to guide us wrong. In verses 21-40 Elijah proves that his opinion, or the God that we serve is able to wondrous things and show his power to the world. There has to be more to do than in the walls of the church. There has to be ways for businesses to promote faith based initiatives and do not worry about being correct in the way the world wants us to be. We, like Elijah can shut down the opinion that any other God besides ours is in charge. We can if we go all in and let the Holy Spirit guide us.

In the Book of John we can look at example of how you can have Jesus as your personal saviour, do great things in the lives of many, but there is still a faction of people that will not want to be bothered with you or
want to hear you. In 1-46 we look at the story of Lazarus and how he was raised from the dead. In our lives we have members of our families that seem dead to us even though the are living. We have ideas in the arts end entertainment area that we think are dead. The reason for this because there people like in verses 47-57 who do not want to see you be a part of a family or use your talents to make changes in the arts and entertainment industry to advance the kingdom. Jesus died for our sins so we can have a better life. We can affect the area of family and the arts and entertainment if we go all in and let Jesus in.

In closing I want to urge all of you to let us shut down some real areas of concerns. Let us write and email or elected officials so they know that we want our faith based voices heard to change some of these laws that are not helping society as a whole like bringing prayer back in schools. I say this often but please attend or get minutes from the school board meetings that are in your neighborhood so you can know what is going on even if you do not have children. Let us support those in the arts and entertainment who want to faith based things by donating finances, space or time to help advance their talents. Let up bring religion out of the safety of the four walls and go where the real work is, in the streets. Let us embrace one another own blood and forgive any one that has done wrong to you or your immediate family and exhibit love. We must change the way the media portrays Christians as being fanatical when we are just trying to spread the word of God. We must support the businesses that we started to with the intentions of being profitable and faith based. If we do these simple things we can advance the kingdom and shut the devil and his agenda down. Let us shut it down!!! All in October and the reminder of the year.
