Forsaken

Good morning and Thankful Thursday. Brand new week. Brand new attitude. The past is the past. The future is unlimited. As we continue in the in the month of Evidence in May based on Acts 4:15-17, Philippians 1:12-14 and Hebrews 11:1-3 I often do a teaching that is not part of the theme of the month. So as I sought to do this teaching I had to look closely at some things that were going on in my life. Although I am a teacher of the Word of God it is easy for me to do some things not of God. Just as any person would things of the world seem to call me just when things in my life are going well. Both of my jobs are going well but my the mother of my two boys is not doing that well. School is going wonderfully but I at times I want to make the fast buck. My health is great but I am still attracted to someone who should not even be in my life. I know better but it seems as I have become something I should not be. I am Forsaken.
In coming into this teaching I want to define the word forsaken and I will go to my source of definitions and that is dictionary.com. Forsaken means; to quit or leave entirely, abandon, and to give
up or renounce. See when I slip back into the ways that are not of God I am leaving him entirely. When I try to make that fast money I am abandoning him. When I am seek to please my flesh instead of him I am renouncing God. Forsaken. This teaching will come from Ezra 9:8-10.
As I begin in the Word of God for this teaching of Forsaken I go to Ezra 9:8. In this verse Ezra is beginning to speak to God about how thankful he is that God brought them out of bondage. I know
that God has given me so many things but I still chose to not be part of the process of helping my sons with their Mom and that is leaving the teachings of God entirely. Forsaken.

As I continue this teaching of Forsaken I go back to the Word of God and to Ezra 9:9. In this passage Ezra continues to press forward in his cry to God and remembers that the people of God were once
slaves yet God had mercy on us. I once did not have a job or income but God has provided for me and I still want to make that fast money which he does not approve of. Forsaken.
As we come to the end of the Biblical portion of this teaching of Forsaken I go to Ezra 9:10. In this verse Ezra comes to God to let him know that the people have forgotten his commandments and have
forsaken him. As I am trying to move forward in my life I cannot be involved with someone who already has somebody else and expect things to turn out well. Forsaken.

In conclusion many of us have forsaken the teachings of God and do things our way. We will not leave entirely the foul language that is not of God but want God to bless us. We will not abandon the way that we look down on others but seek to be in the presence. We will not renounce some of the things such as premarital sex and and gambling but want God to come in an make changes in our lives. I know I have Forsaken him. I humbly ask for him to step in and forgive me and I have to make changes myself. I give God all the glory and honor for this teaching. Please join me on Saturday for a teaching based on Hebrews 11:1-3 which is the last base scripture of the month.
