Reset

Good morning and Fabulous Friday. As I continue with teaching on a limited basis I wanted to take you one Sunday night that happened sometime in the early 2000's. It the end of one those weekends I had become known for. It was filled with taking a couple of snorts of cocaine to begin the day to augment the joint I would smoke that morning that was followed by the cigarette that I had to have following those things. The liquor store opened at 8 am in Dolton Illinois and I had to get my newspaper as well to read. I would cook breakfast and dinner for me and my girlfriend at the time Tonia P,, and be done about 12:45 pm. I would be drunk and high and passed out by 2 pm and wake up at 5 pm with a cup of alcohol still in my hand and begin this process again until about 8 pm so I could function at work the next day. . But this night was different as I felt that what I was doing was not living life and there had to be other things to do. I had to make some changes. I had to Reset.
As I come into this teaching I want to define the word reset and in doing so I am going to my source of definitions and that is dictionary.com. The word reset means as follows; to become set again. My
drinking ways and getting high was getting in the way of my purpose. I was happy with just having a job instead of working toward a career. I did not see things differently until I made a significant change. Reset.
As I come into the Word of God for this teaching I go to Judges 16:20-22. The great Samson of the chosen people of God has been tricked and now the great strength he had is gone as God departed
from him and know he was a prisoner. I had known the Lord since a child but as adult I departed from him and was jailed in a state of illusion that all was well when it was not and I had to become set again. Reset.
In continuing with the teaching of Reset I go back to the Word of God and to Judges 16:25-27. In this verse Samson is now brought from his imprisonment to perform for those who have nothing to do
God and have their own idols they worship. The people I hung around expected me to be funny and have them laughing when I was high and drunk and most of them never ever talked about God to me. Now that was not who I was about. I had to become set again. Reset.

As I come into the Word of God for the final time for this teaching I go to Judges 16:28-30. In this verse Samson becomes set again and ask God to come into his life so that he can do the will of God.
I had to come to the realization that this lifestyle was not one for me even though I had enjoyed it. There was more things to life than the things that I was doing. I wanted more for me and for that to happen, I had to Reset.
In conclusion most of us have a story that we could tell about how we are going through some things. We cannot figure out how to get out of debt, or how to fix our relationships and marriages. We cannot understand why our jobs are boring to us and how we cannot stay away from things that take away from us. I just mentioned drugs and alcohol when gambling, womanizing, lying and treachery were also part of my life. I forgot about my whole family. Let me repeat that. I FORGOT ABOUT MY WHOLE FAMILY, MOM AND DAD'S SIDE.  In short I was nothing nice. But one Sunday night I decided enough was enough and although I did not know it Christ had been in my life always and in order for him to take over I had to become set again. Most of us want to wait until January 1st 2017 to make some changes I challenge today to become set again in places in your life that you need to become set again in. Christ is there to make it better. Reset.
